where to stay in tagaytay

We left Cubao on a Friday night – that sounds like the title of a horror movie. Well, with Metro Manila's dreadful traffic, you could say that it was indeed horrifying. But I was with some of my favorite people so the crawl to Tagaytay wasn't half as bad.

I think it was past 10PM when we arrived at the Taal Vista Hotel. And since we only had chips and donuts in the van, all of us were rather famished. Good thing, Taal Vista's Lobby Lounge stayed open for us, serving as a welcome uber-late dinner that soothed the numbness in our butts.

After stuffing ourselves with pizza and chicken wings, we headed to the Lake Wing where our rooms were located.

Taal Vista Hotel was built in 1939 and boasts arguably the best view of the Taal Lake. The establishment evokes an English Tudor-style mansion, with elegant furniture and lots of natural light.

It has 261 well-appointed rooms. I shared a Premier Room with two awesome ladies, and one high-strung preschooler. Our room has a single-sized bed, and another double-sized one. It has large windows that I thought looked out into a lake (because it was located on the Lake Wing) but turned out to have a view of the nearby Tagaytay Sky Ranch instead.

There was also a flat screen TV, a mini-bar, a closet and a bowl of fruits plus a welcome tray of pan de coco.

My favorite feature, however, was the bathroom. It was divided into three sections by glass doors. Immediately as you enter the main bathroom door was the sink where you could brush your teeth and do your ablutions. To the right is the shower area and on the other side is the toilet. I thought that was a smart design since you could use one of the areas without making the others off limits –perfect when you have roommates.

During our weekend stay, the weather was fickle. It was sunny one moment, then drizzling the next. All our plans to go around was scrapped off, foiled by the unpredictable weather. Fortunately, Taal Vista had enough going-ons to keep us occupied.

Taal Vista Hotel combines the sophistication of a business-oriented venue and the tranquility of a vacation spot. Its pair of wide gardens along with the prime view of the Taal Lake are sure to inspire guests to relax and take it slow. It also goes without saying that this is a nice place to have a wedding or to celebrate any special occasion. On the other hand, the trio of chic restaurants, and the set of spacious conference areas would also satisfy on-the-go entrepreneurs. On top of that, there's also a fitness and game center, a swimming pool, a kid's corner, currency exchange service, a gift shop, and the Asmara spa.

I managed to go on a quick run around the vicinity with a couple of my companions, too. So, there's really plenty to do around the area.

Taal Vista Hotel, aside from the wide range of in-hotel services, also offers assistance when it comes to going around Tagaytay. They may help you arrange transportation to key places like the Taal Volcano. They also have this pocketbook travel guide containing info on all the nearby attractions. I should mention that the Tagaytay Sky Ranch, and Casino Filipino is just a few steps away. A food Park called The Barracks, and a cozy KTV Place called Bali Seafood Paluto are also just a short sprint from the hotel.
