Balite Falls: Another Falls Near the Metro

balite falls

What Cavite lacks in nature spots, it more than makes up for in its vibrant history. But don't count out Cavite in that department just yet, for just about an hour and a half drive from the Metro is a waterfalls that's known to be a favorite destination among Caviteños and a popular sidetrip when heading back from Tagaytay.

Balite Falls is located in Cavite's coffee capital of Amadeo. It has been developed into a resort by private individuals and is divided into two parts (more on this later.)

Bamboo bridges have been installed around the area

Aside from bridge, bamboo huts where ihaw-ihaw can be done are also plentiful around
The waterfalls is not as high as that of Hulugan Falls or Bukal Falls in Laguna, making it relatively safe for diving. The water is generally clean but looks murky because of the stream floor which consists of tan soil and dark-colored rocks. It is cold too, with some portions shallow enough for children.

This is another waterfall tier on the other side of the main catch basin. Swimming here is not allowed.

The area of the main pool is barely knee-high

The area is enclosed in thick and lush hardwoods and greeneries, providing ample shade from the sun. There are also several shallower pools scattered around the area for wading.

There is also ample space for parking.

Take a bus bound to Indang or Trece Martires from the Coastal Terminal and alight at the Mangahan Junction. Here, take a jeepney with an Amadeo signboard and get off at the road leading to Balite Falls.

When bringing your own car, take Cavitex and drive to Centennial Highway until you reach Tejeros. Take a right until you reach the Gov. Ferrer Ave. of General Trias to which you need to turn right. Drive straight and you will pass by the Manggahan Intersection and Gateway Industrial Park. Drive further straight and the Balite Falls signboard will on a road to your right.

When coming from Tagaytay, ply Crisanto delos Reyes Ave (in front of Skyranch) and you will arrive at Amadeo town proper. Continue driving and you will pass by a Pepsi Cola dealership on our left. The road to Balite Falls is not far from here and will be on your left. The route is the same when you ply the SLEX, taking the Southwoods exit.

I apologize as I cannot breakdown the transportation expenses because I was riding shotgun when I visited the place.

Entrance Fee - Php75/pax*

This cottage/room costs Php1,200
*Remember when I mentioned the resort is divided into two parts? The other entrance, apparently, only collects a Php50/pax entrance fee and can be accessed by taking a jeepney to Brgy. Banay-banay from Manggahan Junction.

Overnight stay is not yet possible, but you may contact Ate Nilda, the caretaker of the Banay-banay side, for inquiries. She also said that it's possible she'd prepare your food if you ask nicely.
