Beach All-You-Can at Manunggul, Sorsogon

May 21 - 25, 2014

I am convinced that there is a part of me that once belonged to the oceans and the seas, for I always yearn to return to the water. This yen was palliated by the Manunggul Beach.

The Manunggul and I have a long history. It had known me, and I it, eversince I was a child. It is special to me because my mom had always bragged about how great it is to go swimming here and the fact that it was free for all. Like her, I am proud of it.

A one-minute sprint from our house in Basud, Bacon, Sorsogon, Manunggul features gray to black sands and cool waters. Although sometimes the water would be littered with seaweeds and a few harmless jellyfishes, most of the time it was clear and calm. Manunggul Beach looks out into the Pacific, by the way, and is also lined by the Poctol mountain range, of which Mt. Pulog is a part.

And on the farthest part of the beach would be a river delta. A portion of the river flows very near to our house. If you're in no mood for a swim (highly unlikely), you can walk along the beach and pick shells and stones. Make sure to ask permission from the sea before you take it with you, though. It may seem silly, but I find this respectful.

I would like to reiterate that Manunggul Beach is free for all. One-to-sawa as we Filipinos like to say.

Cheers to the next adventure!
