The Creamer-like Sands of Maniwaya Island, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque

Marinduque is not usually heard of in the news nor in any other form of media. Which is, in my opinion, a great injustice because the place has lots to offer. But come to think of it, that's a good thing for me because I get to experience its treasures with less than the usual traffic of tourists.

One of the hidden gems of Marinduque is the Maniwaya Island in Sta. Cruz. More than an hour drive from Gasan and a similar duration boat ride from the Sta. Cruz port, the fine powdery white sands of Maniwaya is sure to give Boracay a run for its money.

A backdrop of mountain ranges, clear teal waters and an "undiscovered" vibe, Maniwaya ranks high on my list of awesome beaches.

I haven't been to Boracay but it being too popular had mollified its appeal to some extent. Maniwaya offers the same creamer-like sands plus a sense of privacy - more relaxation than socialization.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a quiet island in the middle of a vast sea, crystal water and white sands, Maniwaya island is indeed a getaway in every sense of the word.

Cheers to the next adventure!
