The Burgos Lighthouse on Cape Bojeador

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Not only did they left us with the Filipino term for lighthouse, the Spaniards also left actual towers of beacon to forever remind us of their influence.

The Burgos lighthouse, unlike the most recent lighthouse I've visited, is noticeably of Spanish Architecture. It used to stand as a guiding blaze for galleons sailing toward the coast. Because of its location, with the steep stairway to the hill where it stands, it also served as a fortress during the time of the conquistadors.

We weren't able to get to the actual tower because it was under restoration during our visit but we did get to explore some parts of the place:

Well, that's just another way of saying I should come back to Ilocandia. Hooray!

Cheers to the next adventure!
