Hey, beybes!

Finally and officially got over my week-long Risa Hontiveros' loss-induced heartache! Haha! To celebrate, I decided to start a food/lakwatsa/bonding blog. Well, at least a reasonable facsimile.

BACKSTORY

Part I: Happenstance SMS
How to begin? Hm. Well, 'twas a Wednesday when I received an SMS from one of my good college friends, Eli. It was out of nowhere and totally unexpected! A pleasant surprise, mind you. She said that we should go on a date. And of course, I immediately said yes. (Eli later told me that I was easy-to-get. Whatever, Eli.)

I suggested we eat at one of the off-the-wall foodscapes at Kapitolyo in Pasig. (I got obsessed with this food hub eversince I, and a group of colleagues, went on a foodtrip at Mad Mark's. Anywaaaaaay...) To be specific, at Poco Deli. At first, Eli was unsure.To help her decide, I pointed out that she loved meat--the "little store" specialized in a literal sausage fest. Eli said she's not that into sausage. (Hard to believe, I know. Hihi.) I was like: Ok, don't worry. Meron namang pasta dun. She didn't give me an acceptable answer but what was clear was that we were pushing through with the date, Saturday, May 25. We both needed to unwind after all.

(We did end up eating at Poco Deli. Yay!)

Part II: Random Quips
 (Excerpts from our conversations)

Eli: Muka kang anorexic. Anong nangyari sa'yo?

Me: Secret. :)

Me: You're brain-dead.

Eli: Alam mo yan.

-----

Eli: Ang sarap talaga nung Citrus Delight.

Me: Yeah. Very refreshing.

Eli: Rejuvenating.

Me: (blank look on my face)

Eli: Parang make-up lang? Haha. May masabi lang.

THE ACTUAL DATE
So, ok. We arrived at Poco Deli at around four-ish post meridiem. I was worried that the place might be crowded as it was almost dinner. (Or maybe I was just under the impression that everyone eats dinner before 6? Oh, well.) I was suffering in silence because I was so worried that we might have trouble getting a table. Fortunately, there was no crowd. You know, per se. The place was not as jam-packed as I dreaded.  

The Food
We had a single serving of the German Sausage Platter (Php340) 

The big sausage is a Cheese Krainer. The pepper-flecked ones were Nurnbergers; the pale-looking ones were Chicken Sausages. Served with home-made sauerkraut and toasted bagel chips.

Ugh. Everything in this plate was sooooo delicious. The sausages were compact and not crumbly, and extremely juicy! Foodgasm! Eli and I regret not ordering the double serving. Next time!

Citrus Delight (Php120)
4 Citrus fruit - Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, and Orange

The rejuvenating beverage! Hahaha! Hm. Kidding aside, this house-specialty concoction is truly refreshing. Zesty and tangy and fizzy, all at the same time! Highly recommended!

Truffle Oil Pasta (Php350)

 White sauce, truffle oil, topped with mushroom

Sooooo yummy! The sauce was creamy, the pasta al dente, and the garlicky accent awesome! The nutty flavor of the truffle tasted wonderful! I wanted to eat everything but decided against it. I'm a good friend that way. 


Quattro Formaggi Pizza (Php360)

Four different cheeses- Mozarella, Pecorino, Gorgonzola, Grana Padano

I quite enjoyed this despite it being somewhat bland and texture-lacking. Walang oomph. Eli remarked that our taste preferences are on the extreme side of the spectrum, i.e. if it's matamis, we want it to be suuupertamis. Haha. Well, I don't know. We both found it bland but enjoyed it nonetheless. The crust, though, was not too crispy, just the way I like it.
We didn't get to finish the whole thing not because we're full but because we got bored of having the same taste in our mouths. Haha. Three slices were spared in this women-vs-food drama.

THE BOTTOMLINE

Although the meal was a little bit pricey, it was soooo worth it. We reckon our meal was not what two people would eat "sa totoong buhay" . Even the server can't help putting on a smile upon seeing what was on our table. Patay-gutom lang talaga. Haha. (Anorexic your face, Eli.)

At any rate, we plan to go back to Poco Deli to try their famous Bacon Slab (which they ran out of during our visit) as well as their Wagyu Platter, and the Lamb Sausage. Woohoo! :)

THE SIDETRIPS
Our date did not end there, in case you're wondering. There's more! We had loooooots of catching up to do so we headed out to SM Megamall. We then sank our insensitive teeth on strawberry popsicles;


and had a gulp of taho! Food overload, in short. Sigh. This is the life.

Also, we bought cool mood rings (had a hankering for retro, I guess) and basically just walked around like maniacs, eventually resulting to very very tired feet.

My favorite part? Talking about everything under the sun whilst burping our worries and cares away.
